Sickies Garage Burgers And Brew – Overland Park

Sickies Garage Burgers And Brew opened up a location in Overland Park a little over a year ago. The restaurant was started in 2012 in Fargo, North Dakota, and now has 13 locations across the country. They are known for their selection of over 50 burgers. We decided to try it out on Saturday.

We arrived around 3:00 on Saturday, as we decided to have a couple of beers and watch the Royals game before eating. We were immediately seated and served upon arriving. They have quite the beer selection, with 50 on tap, including four house beers that they make themselves. They also offer a flight of four choices for $10. We were both fans of the Sickies Garage House Amber.

The menu is a bit intimidating, so I decided to order something simple since it was our first time there. I ordered the “spare tire,” which is a double cheeseburger with American cheese, pickles, and ketchup. I ordered sweet potato fries as my side dish, and I also ordered six wings with a spicy buffalo dry rub on them. I didn’t time it exactly, but from the time we ordered, it was about 15 minutes later that we received our food, which is very reasonable.

The burger was flavorful and juicy, but it was a bit overdone for my taste. I like my burger medium rare, and our waiter didn’t ask how I wanted it done when I placed my order. Next time, I will ask for medium rare. The fries were good, and the wings were hot and tender, but as you can see in the picture, they were doused in the dry rub, and it overwhelmed my taste buds. Too much rub on them if you ask me. I’ll give them a try next time with buffalo sauce instead of the rub.

Overall, we were pretty impressed with the food and service. Michelle was still talking on Sunday about how good her burger was. I didn’t have any major complaints.

They have a rewards program, which we signed up for. Supposedly, you receive a free burger for signing up, but you don’t get it on the spot. They say they’ll send a coupon to you in the mail. So you can’t get your free burger on your first visit. You have to wait until they mail the coupon to you. It’s no big deal, but just FYI.

I’ve seen mixed reviews about this place, but it was very busy for almost the entire time we were there, with a line out the door waiting for tables to open up. We will go back to give it another try. Have you been there? What did you think?
